Launched in April 2022, Get Set Goal is a student-supported community wellbeing service delivered as part of the Health and Wellbeing Academy at the University of Huddersfield.
Run by healthcare students, the service provides year-round wellbeing activities (excluding the Christmas period), including:
- Health checks
- One-to-one wellbeing coaching
- Re-start a Heart training
- Wellbeing workshops
Student Involvement
Since its launch, more than 170 healthcare students from nursing and allied health programmes have contributed to the service. This includes learners at every stage of training – from first-year BSc students to final-year MSc students.
Impact and Benefits
Together, students have undertaken over 519,000 placement hours, and made a significant contribution to community healthcare. Key achievements include:
- 14,540 health checks across 389 events and venues
- 4,025 participants trained in Re-start a Heart across 167 events
- 322 wellbeing workshops reaching 5,673 participants
- 288 individual clients supported through one-to-one wellbeing coaching
Reducing Health Inequalities
Data from health check events shows that of participants living in areas with an Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) ranking below 10,000,
- 74% live in areas where more than 10% of the population has cardiovascular or respiratory conditions.
